Creating a Legacy
with Kavana

“Just as my ancestors planted for me, so I will plant for those who will come after me.”

– Babylonian Talmud, Ta’anit 23a

Ensure a Vibrant Jewish Future

Since its founding, Kavana has reimagined Jewish community – as cooperative, creative, inclusive, and deeply rooted in values – and has touched literally thousands of lives. Through lifecycle moments, Shabbat and holiday celebrations, Jewish learning, and justice work, Kavana has become a spiritual home and a powerful force for connection and for good in the world.

You have the power to help ensure that this important work continues for generations to come.

Why Legacy Giving?

Legacy giving enables you to make a lasting impact and sustain the innovative, relationship-centered Judaism you love and believe in, by helping Kavana thrive long beyond your lifetime. By making a legacy gift – often at little or no cost today, but with potential tax benefits – you are planting seeds for the next generation and joining a community of visionaries committed to the Jewish future.

Ways to Make a Legacy Gift

Here’s the exciting news: everyone can be a philanthropist! There are many ways in which you can leave a legacy at Kavana. For all planned gifts, please consult your legal and/or financial advisor, as each of the options below can be tailored to your unique circumstances and philanthropic goals:

  • Bequest in Your Will or Trust: Name Kavana as a beneficiary of a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate.

  • Retirement Accounts: Designate Kavana as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement account - often one of the most tax-efficient ways to give.

  • Life Insurance: Make Kavana the beneficiary (or partial beneficiary) of an existing or new life insurance policy.

  • Donor-Advised Fund Remainders: Recommend that Kavana receive residual funds from your donor-advised fund.

Your Values, Your Legacy

Whatever path you choose, when you include Kavana in your plans, you are saying:

  • Jewish community matters deeply to me.

  • Spiritual practice, Torah, and justice all have value and are worth sustaining.

  • I intend to leave a legacy of generosity. “Just as my ancestors planted for me, so I will plant for those who will come after me.”

Your legacy gift is a testament to your values and an investment in the kind of world you want to help build—now and into the future.

There is no minimum gift or amount required – just a desire to help Kavana thrive for generations to come.
