Erev Tisha B'Av
Under the stars
This event is co-sponsored by The Kavana Cooperative & Jconnect Seattle.
Tisha B'Av (the 9th day of the month of Av) is the date on which both the first and second temples were destroyed (same date, different centuries), and is a day of mourning for the Jewish people. It might be the saddest day on the Jewish calendar, yet the tunes are hauntingly beautiful.
We'll get together as a community for learning, singing and the chanting of Lamentations/The Book of Eicha.
We will be facing east, toward Jerusalem. We'll see the sun set, the skies darken, and the moon rise over the Cascade mountains and the stars come out over Lake Washington.
Date: Wed. July 29
Time: 8pm
Where: Magnuson Park (at Kite Hill)
